Military Medal 'On the 29th of September 1918 during the advance on the Canal de L'Escaut this NCO was in charge of two machine-guns. He made a valuable reconnaissance

His initiative, sound judgment and boldness in handling his guns materially assisted the advance and all through the operations he behaved most gallantly and gave great encouragement to his men.'
