Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and good work during the attack on the Passchendaele Ridge on 12th October 1917. This NCO assisted in the capture of the enemy strong point known as the Cemetery, after which he led his men forward and established an Advanced Post, covering the consolidation. After some hours, there being a danger of his party being cut off, he skillfully withdrew without loss, under heavy
machine gun fire, to the established line.'
