War service: England Posted to D Company, 22nd Infantry Reinforcements, and embarked on board HMNZT No 73 'Aparima', Wellington, 16 February 1917; disembarked Devonport, England, 2 May 1917, and posted to 4th (Reserve) Battalion, Canterbury & Otago Regiments, Sling Camp, Salisbury Plain. Found guilty, 4 June 1917, of overstaying leave when on active service from 31 May to 2 June 1917; awarded 72 hours' detention and forfeited three days' pay; total forfeiture six days' pay by award of Commanding Officer. Admitted to No 3 New Zealand General Hospital (Venereal Disease Section), Codford, 7 June 1917; discharged to New Zealand Command Depot, Codford, 4 August 1917.
