Military Medal

'For specially good work and great gallantry during the attack on the enemy positions near Gouzeaucourt on the 12th September 1918. He is a Lewis gunner and created great slaughter among a party of the enemy advancing apparently to counter attack. Afterwards this gun was put out of action and he was wounded in the hand. In spite of the wound he got a German machine gun in action and remained at his post till all was quiet, when loss of blood compelled him to go and get his wounds dressed.'
