Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 5th September 1918, in front of Neuville, Corporal Walder's platoon commander was killed in action, and this NCO assumed command of the platoon, leading it to its objective and there consolidating. He sent out a patrol to exploit success, thus capturing several prisoners. Corporal Walder's work was particularly fine, and he showed conspicuous initiative and qualities of leadership.'
