'Operations: British Front near Havrincourt Wood 6th/7th September 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Through the afternoon and evening of the 7th September, Private Wade scouted ahead of the Company during its progress through very difficult country. At night when the Company was held up he went forward on a reconnaissance patrol. Again the following morning, the enemy having retired through the Wood, he went forward to reconnoitre and located the enemy's new position. His work throughout was marked as much by his tireless willingness as by the unusual rapidity with which he obtained much valuable information, all by proving subsequently to be the most precise and accurate.'
