Military Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty during operations at Gravenstafel on October 4th 1917. This NCO did excellent work in guiding his parties through heavy barrage to the regimental aid post. By his coolness under fire he showed an excellent example to his men and succeeded in bringing in many men lying wounded in shell holes. He has previously done meritorious work.'
