Military Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty on October 4th at Gravenstafel. This man carried on with untiring energy for 36 hours. By his coolness under fire and utter disregard for personal safety he brought in many men exposed to the enemy's fire. He set a splendid example to the rest of the men.'
