Admitted to No 4 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Abbassia, 4 January 1916 (scabies); discharged from hospital and attached to New Zealand Rifle Brigade Training Battalion, Zeitoun Camp, 3 March 1916. Taken on strength 2nd Battalion, New Zealand Rifle Brigade and posted to A Company, Moascar Camp, Ismailia, 7 March 1916. Proceeded overseas to France from Alexandria with unit on board HMT 'Arcadian', 6 April 1916.
