Military Medal 'On 6th June 1917, the Prowe Boyd Tramline in Ploegsteert Wood, when engaged in getting up ammunition to New Zealand Divisional Artillery Batteries in the vicinity this NCO displayed great courage under heavy shell fire, maintaining the supply under great difficulty in the handling of mules and encouraging of men. Owing to the batteries ahead having lost much ammunition by explosion, the supply was urgent, and when the line was blown out in several places, after placing the personnel and animals in safety, he, with Sergeant Graves returned to assist the
maintenance gang on relaying same. The incident is only one of many such which he has performed while on more or less continuous duty, supplying shell to Batteries in the Southern System during the last three weeks.'
