Medals

Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Near Metz during operations 12th/14th September 1918, Private Turnbull while acting as a Transport Driver showed exceptional gallantry. On several occasions he drove his team through intense shell fire to supply troops in the forward area with water. It was largely owing to his gallantry and devotion to duty that troops situated in the front line were supplied with water during a very critical time.'
