Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 25th August 1918 near Bapaume Private Tripp was in command of a Lewis gun Section. He showed great courage and coolness when it was necessary to expose himself to pick up targets and observe fire. During the morning his No. 1 of the gun advanced firing from the hip, inflicting casualties on the enemy at 20 yards range. Again on the 4th September in front of Havrincourt Wood Private Tripp had command of a section and led it forward with such skill that it covered the advanced of the remainder of the Company and saved casualties. This man showed marked initiative and
conspicuous gallantry and led his men with consistent success.'
