It is not possible from the Nominal Roll to determine on which ship an individual embarked. The Nominal Roll gives the date of departure as 1 April 1916; harbour records indicate that the actual date of embarkation was 2 April 1916. | |

Military Medal 'For great bravery and initiative during a minor operation near Hebuterne on the night of 4/5th May 1918. When the advance of a part of his Company was held up by machine gun fire, this NCO, although wounded, boldly rushed his Lewis gun
forward to an advanced position and drew the fire of the enemy machine gun, enabling the gun to be dealt with and the advance continued. Later, by good judgement, and with marked ability he withdrew his section from a precarious position to out line, without incurring casualties. His gallant conduct and bold initiative was responsible for a difficult position being easily overcome, and set a splendid example to all in his Company.'
