Military Medal 'Near Solesmes on October 23rd, 1918. For gallantry and devotion to duty. Whilst the Battery was engaged in firing a barrage it came under heavy hostile shell fire, some guns being put out of action and two men wounded. At great personal risk Bombardier Tomlinson, who had been Medical Orderly to the R.M.O., used his
knowledge and skill in bandaging the men and getting them away to safety. He was exposed to heavy shell fire all the time, and in addition greatly assisted his gun detachment, which had been depleted by the casualties, throughout the whole barrage.'
