Mentioned in Despatches 'For gallantry. Corporal Boyd is the No 1 of a Lewis gun Team. Through the Somme he fought his gun with bravery and dash. On the night of February 12th 1917, the enemy raided the trenches, Corporal Boyd fought his gun throughout the raid and his tenacity was the cause of keeping the main portion of the enemy raiding party from our trenches.
