Military Medal

'For continuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations from 21st August to 14th September 1918 in the Bapaume area. Thomson is a runner and accompanied Officers making reconnaissances of our front line. Thomson did valuable service on all reconnaissances finding out where flanking units were and the location of their posts. Although all forward areas where continually under heavy shell fire and machine gun fire he never failed to gain the information wanted. His utter disregard for personal safety was a very fine example to all.'
