Military Medal 'Operations: On British Front, opposite Beaumont Hamel, 26th March 1918, and subsequent days. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Corporal Thomas was in command of the Company Signal Station during the enemy's attempted attack on March 27th. It was through his good work in frequently repairing his line under very heavy shell fire that touch with Battalion Headquarters
was maintained practically throughout the day. Again on April 5th, he maintained his line throughout the day in a very heavily shelled area thus securing forward communication at a time when it was urgently needed. He has at all times shown
the same conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty.'
