Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. In company with a sergeant he entered a burning gun-pit, and found a gunner pinned under fallen debris. He and the sergeant worked for several minutes within a few feet of the burning charges and rescued the man.'
