Military Medal 'Operation: British line Opposite Beaumont Hamel on 26th March and subsequent days. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During these operations this man was employed as Company runner. On the 26th March and 5th April 1918 he repeatedly made journeys between company and Battalion Headquarters, carrying reports and despatches. These journeys were invariably made under exceptionally
heavy hostile machine guns and shell fire. He performed his duties in a most cheerful and willing manner at all times.'
