Medals |
Meritorious Service Medal 'Operations ? Belle Vue Spur, 4th October 1917 to 20th October 1917. For devotion to duty. This NCO was the Transport Sergeant of the Battalion and he did excellent work in this capacity during the above period and until November, 1917, when he
left the Unit on a Tour of Duty. Sergeant Stevenson was always a devoted and faithful worker, and, while the Battalion was in the line, he spared no efforts to ensure the proper delivery of supplies to the men in the trenches. Moreover, he served with the Unit during the offensive operations on the Somme, at Messines, and in the October offensive east of Ypres, and on these special occasions he overcame all difficulties in the way of transport and it was due largely to his
efforts that the Battalion did not at any time fail to receive its rations.'
