Transferred to 2nd Infantry Brigade, 2 May 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, France, 20 May 1916. Joined 2nd Bn, in the field, 21 June 1916. Wounded in action, 1 October 1916 (gun shot wound, left thigh), and admitted to XX corps collecting Station; transferred to No 1 Canadian General Hospital, Etaples, 2 October 1916; to No 6 Convalescent Depot, 12 October 1916; discharged to Base Depot, 30 December 1916; to Base Depot, Etaples, 5 January 1917. Admitted to 24th General Hospital, Etaples, 9 March 1917 (measles); discharged to duty, 19 March 1917.
