Military Medal 'Between Corner Fort and Le Brideaux east of Fleurbaix. He was a member of a Lewis gun Team returning across No Mans Land after the raid on 21.2.17 an enemy machine gun opened fire from the flank and wounded three of the four men in the
team. Private Stacey with the help of one slightly wounded man carried back one of the team through the enemy barrage of machine-gun fire. He then returned across No Mans Land for the other man laying in enemy wire. Before he could reach him the man was taken prisoner and Private Stacey then returned to our lines, securing the Lewis gun on the way. His conspicuous gallantry and devotion to
his comrades his duty was a magnificent example to all. Strength of raid 16 officer and 51 other ranks.'
