Medals

Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. By his personal example and disregard of danger he inspired his platoon at a critical time in the attack. In the consolidation under heavy machine gun fire his cheerfulness and courage spurred on the men with him, and it was mainly owing to his efforts that the work was completed.'
