Found guilty, District Court Martial, Hazebrouck, 14 December 1916, of four charges of misdirecting postal packets to persons not eligible to receive them: sentenced to 1 year's imprisonment with hard labour; sentence commuted to 6 months' detention.

Marched out to NZ Area Employment Company, in the field, 16 August 1917. Attached to NZ Stationary Hospital, 19 August 1917.

Found guilty, 18 September 1917, of when on Active Service failing to comply with a lawful order in that when ordered to join a fatigue party failed to do so: awarded forfeiture of 14 days' pay (gross).
