Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack on Passchendaele Ridge on the 12th October 1917. He did extremely good work in bandaging and getting in wounded under heavy machine gun and occasionally heavy shell fire. He was working in an exposed position for a considerable time, and by his contempt for danger, was responsible for saving a number of lives.'
