Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack on Grevillers on 24th August and on Bancourt on 30th August. For over forty hours he maintained a most important wire back to Brigade (our only quick means of communication) which was being continually out by heavy shell fire. He was eventually wounded while engaged on his task.'
