Military Medal 'Was with an ammunition wagon on the Longueval-Flers Road on the 20th September 1916, when it came under the enemy's fire. Two of the drivers were wounded and three horses killed. He managed to extricate the wounded men from the horses and get them away, and also save the unwounded horses. During the whole time the place was being heavily shelled, but he saw the thing through and the road was clear before they left the scene.'
