Source: London Gazette Date: Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry on 25th April, 1915, at Gaba Tepe (Dardanelles). During the operations following the landing he, on four separate occasions, went out and brought in, under a very heavy fire, wounded men after all previous attempts to rescue them had failed. He exhibited the greatest bravery, and set a fine example of devotion to duty.'
