Military Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty during Operations around Beaudignies and Le Quesnoy from October 23rd to November 7th. This driver drove his Ambulance Car through gas shells and high explosive continuously for 36 hours. In spite of the roads being shelled and gassed he kept on day and night running his car right up to the forward regimental aid posts. By his coolness and courage he kept the post clear of wounded on November 4th. During the attack on Le Quesnoy he ran his car right up under machine gun fire from the ramparts and brought in a couple of men who were lying out wounded. He was a magnificent example of coolness and daring and helped greatly in getting the wounded back to the Advanced Dressing Station. His work during the whole attack was of high merit and showed remarkable devotion to duty.'
