Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and initiative. Near Hebuterne on the 20th, 21st and 22nd July 1918 this man displayed a great degree of courage and initiative in reconnoitring enemy positions and leading forward patrols, both by day and night.
His work was of the greatest value and he showed absolute contempt for danger. His example was a great encouragement to his comrades.'
