Military Medal 'For gallantry on 12th October, 1917 near St Julien. When a shell struck and fired a gun pit, this man rushed singly to the pit, and with great courage threw water from an adjoining shell hole over the fire, and scattered the burning Ammunition. His
prompt action undoubtedly saved the gun and much ammunition from destruction.'
