Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry, skill, and leadership. On the 29th September 1918, near La Vacquerie this NCO?s platoon commander and platoon Sergeant became casualties early in the advance. L/Corporal Rusterholtz at once took charge of his platoon and led it with great gallantry and skill to the final objective outflanking several enemy machine guns and capturing many of the enemy. His gallantry and
leadership was a splendid example to his comrades.'
