Military Medal 'Operations: West of Bapaume, 25th August 1918. For gallant conduct and devotion to duty. The platoon Officer and Sergeant being wounded early in the
operation this NCO took charge of the platoon. He rallied them and took them to their objective, cleaning up the main street of the village, a most difficult and hazardous task. He superintended consolidation under heavy machine gun fire. His
courage and devotion to duty were a wonderful example and help to his men.'
