Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He made a reconnaissance for roads under very heavy fire, and later carried out successfully the construction of the necessary roads under very heavy fire. He worked with untiring energy and determination throughout the day and night, and set a splendid example of courage and coolness to his men.'
