Proceeded overseas to France,, 6 June 1917; taken on strength, 2nd Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, in the field, 25 June 1917, and posted to 10th Company. Wounded in action, 4 July 1917 (gun shot wound, right thigh), and admitted to 9th Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred to 11th Casualty Clearing Station; to 32nd Stationary Hospital, Wimereux, 5 July 1917; to No 1 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, 13 August 1917; to Base Depot, Etaples, 17 August 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 14 September 1917.
