Military Medal 'On the 12th October, 1917 near St Julien this NCO did an enormous amount of work packing ammunition from Wieltje to forward battery positions near St Julien. The route was constantly under heavy shell fire, but Ross never failed to pilot his convoy to its destination and deliver his ammunition. Throughout the operations he showed great courage and inspired confidence in the men under him. On several occasions he acted voluntarily as guide to pack trains and his work materially assisted in the maintenance of an efficient ammunition supply.'
