Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He led his platoon with great determination in the attack, and when they were held up by a "pillbox" he immediately led an attack on it and captured it with seventeen prisoners and one machine gun. He took command of another company as well as his own, and
consolidated the whole captured position. He set a splendid example of courage and leadership.'
