Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry on the night of the 4th and 5th of June, 1915, at Quinn's Post (Dardanelles). During a sortie, Sergeant Rodger was in charge of a party of men, and although seriously wounded by a bayonet thrust he refused to retire. He exhibited throughout the night the greatest coolness and bravery, and gave to all with him a fine example of devotion to duty.'
