Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the operations of 31st August and 1st September at Bancourt, he displayed great courage and coolness and set a splendid example to his men. On September 1st, he commanded his platoon and very ably reorganised, and consolidated on a good line under very heavy machine and snipers fire.'
