Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He gallantly led his section in the attack on Messines on 7th June 1917, particularly in an attack on an enemy gun position. He set a fine example bayoneting a number of the enemy. After the position was consolidated he did good work in tending the wounded.'
