Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when an ammunition dump was set on fire by enemy shelling. Though the ammunition was exploding, he at once went to the dump, removed some of the ammunition, and extinguished the fire. The neighbourhood was crowded with men and pack animals, and his prompt and
courageous action averted what might have been a serious disaster.'
