Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the morning of the 1st October 1918, near Crevecoeur Private Rickard, though wounded some time earlier
in the day, rushed forward with his Lewis gun to cover the right flank which was held up, in so doing the whole team because casualties and Private Rickard
received another wound. In spite of his second wound Pte Rickard kept his Gun in action until the objective was reached, when he was compelled to go out. He set a splendid example to all.'
