Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 24th August 1918 during operations near Grevillers Private Richardson while doing duty as a Stretcher Bearer, displayed great gallantry. When volunteers were called for to bring in a
wounded comrade, Pte Richardson went out under very heavy shell and machine gun fire and succeeded in bringing the wounded man back to our lines. Later on, the same day, Pte Richardson went out under an extremely heavy barrage of shell and machine-gun fire to attend to the wounded and remove them to a position of less danger. His gallantry and devotion to duty, was a splendid example to his comrades.'
