Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty throughout the operations 14th August to 7th September, 1918, in the Puisieux/Bapaume area. On 25th August his section commander being killed Private Reynard took charge of the section and led it in the attack, capturing an enemy machine gun post which was holding up the advance of his platoon. On 7th September he took out a patrol under heavy fire, and gained valuable information which enabled our portion of the line to be advanced a considerable distance, on some of his patrol being wounded, he personally stayed and supervised their return to our line with the result that all were brought in. Although not an NCO Private Reynard displayed all those qualities that make a leader of men, and his personal example had a great effect upon the men of his section.'
