Military Medal 'For marked bravery and gallant conduct during a minor operation near Hebuterne on the night of 4/5th May 1918. When his section commander was killed Private Revell at once assumed command. With great bravery and with utter disregard for his own safety he directed fire on to an enemy machine gun, effectively silencing it. He maintained touch with the troops on his left and later, under steady sniping fire from the enemy, successfully withdrew his section from its advanced position to conform with the main line. His conduct throughout the engagement was splendid, and his bravery was an excellent example to all his comrades.'
