Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At Crevecoeur on the 1st October 1918, he worked at a bridge continuously for 10 hours under machine gun and shell fire. His gallantry and steadiness set a fine example to his men. On the 2nd October he displayed the same qualities in similar circumstances while constructing another bridge at the same place.'
