Military Medal 'Attack: Switch Line, South east of High Wood, 15th September 1916, and Grid Trench, north West of Flers, 1st October 1916. This man is a regimental stretcher bearer On the 15th September, after the attack on the Switch Trench, this man spent the whole day in attending wounded, and carrying them back, in many
cases single-handed under heavy shell fire. His coolness was specially remarked upon by all ranks. Again on the 1st October he displayed great bravery. His devotion to duty during the above days undoubtedly saved a great number of lives.'
