During operations of a strenuous character this non commissioned officer, who was acting as Company Sergeant Major, displayed untiring energy and fearless disregard of danger, inspiring all ranks
by his example. Under heavy fire he consolidated the captured position, showing that fine leadership and resource which have always distinguished his behaviour.'
