Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field during operations near Gouzeaucourt Wood from 12th to 14th September 1918. During the above
operations this soldier rendered very valuable services as a signaller in laying out and maintaining a telephone line from Battalion Headquarters to a Front Company. The work was dangerous and difficult as the line was frequently broken, but largely owing to his efforts communication was kept up. Time and again he repaired the line under heavy shell fire, and his work proved invaluable throughout the course
of the operations.'
