Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field on Bon Avis Ridge on the 30th September 1918. During the above operations this soldier did excellent work as a Battalion runner. He was continually carrying messages and bringing back
invaluable information between Battalion H.Q. and the front line Companies. He had to proceed down the forward slope of the ridge, and was each time subjected to heavy machine gun and snipers fire, being under close observation from the enemy. By his great personal bravery and coolness under heavy fire he kept up communication, which assisted materially the operations in progress. His conduct throughout was deserving of the highest praise.'
